The concentrator should use the equipments with different types according to the size of the particles to be separated. The diameter which is lower than the 0.25cm will lead to the low efficiency in the screening process. The separation process is based on the difference of the sedimentation velocity of particles in the fluid, which is often referred to as the grading.
With the action of the gravity, the particles and fluid will suffer from the resistance in the sedimentation. When the resistance is equal to the effective weight of the particles, the particles will reach a maximum speed, namely the limit settling velocity. The limit speed is related to the particle size and concentration. If it is between the limit speed of the isolated particles, the fluid upwardly has a value in speed, which can make the particles divided into the downstream- movement particles and the countercurrent-movement particles. This is the basis for the hydraulic classification of the separated particles.

With the repetitive motion, the sand will be slowly transported to the discharging end from the slope. The motion mechanism system is composed by the crankshaft, eccentric and connecting rod. The lifting height of the rake is usually 90% to 95% of the height of the rake plate. There are one to six rakes. The standard width of the single rake is 1200mm or 1500mm.
